Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys — Boston, Massachusetts

Is bankruptcy the right option for you?

How do you choose a bankruptcy lawyer?

Does who you choose make a difference?

The answer to the first question here depends on a number of factors. There is no definitive answer to question number two. The third question: a resounding YES.

At the Law Offices of Richard N. Gottlieb, we do a lot for our clients. We file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions. We save clients' businesses and homes. We help people keep their cars and personal possessions. We deal with liens and solve tax problems. We do them for individuals and businesses in the Boston area and throughout Massachusetts. We can help you too.

Before you choose a bankruptcy lawyer, consider:

  • Experience
Bankruptcy law is a very technical, specialized practice. Mistakes are easy to make. We not only know what we are doing, we also share our clients' concerns and treat each client as if they were our only client.

Principal attorney Richard N. Gottlieb has been representing debtors, creditors and trustees in bankruptcy matters for over 20 years. Mr. Gottlieb has also earned a distinction that only four other attorneys in Massachusetts can claim — certification by the American Board of Certification as a specialist in BOTH consumer and business bankruptcy laws. In addition to passing a rigorous daylong test, certified lawyers must also have extensive experience in virtually all aspects of bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation and receive favorable recommendations from reputable attorneys in the bankruptcy field.

  • Creativity
Bankruptcy is not a one-size-fits-all process. In fact, we have yet to see a client walk through our doors with "boilerplate" problems. The reality is that because each individual's or business's problems are unique, solutions have to be developed on a case-by-case basis. Through collaboration and use of our own computer software, we are able to provide creative, individualized bankruptcy solutions that work.

  • Teamwork
We believe in the value of a team-based approach. Mr. Gottlieb, our two associates and the support staff here at this office will all work together to solve your problems. This approach ensures greater accessibility, responsiveness and involvement in the process for you. If something changes or you have a question or concern, you will almost certainly be able to talk with someone here who knows you and can provide answers.

What to Expect

Whether you are seeking to file a Chapter 11, a Chapter 13 or a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition — you can expect us to listen and be attentive, to ask questions and to provide knowledgeable advice. Do not let shame or embarrassment keep you from getting the help you need. The mistakes, if there were any, have already been made. In fact, filing for bankruptcy protection is a far more honest thing to do than continuing to pretend you can manage. We'll help you to understand and evaluate your options and to identify realistic goals. We'll then provide the services needed to achieve them.
